three guys named mike

I always enjoy a good old fashioned black and white movie. I really had to talk Andy into it and he ended up enjoying it. I love the style of the women in those days! And i loved trying to guess which Mike she was going to choose in the end. Just good innocent fun is my idea of a great movie!

The Vow

If you loved this movie... stop reading this post. I'm sorry. I just need to be honest. I am usually a sucker for chick flicks. I usually love cheesy. But The Vow was a huge disappointment. I knew a lot of people who enjoyed it, they got emotional and cried. I thought i was in for a treat when Andy and I snuggled up on the couch to watch it. My eyes stayed in a permanent confused dazed look throughout the movie. The characters didn't grab me. I didn't feel like they were in love. I thought the scripting was awful. It felt very superficial to me. I am not the kind of girl to be a critic but i feel like this movie... lets say... didn't bring the best out in me. I thought it was pretty awful. Sorry Rachel and Channing. I've liked you in other movies, just not this one.

what message i got...

I was so excited to see The Hunger Games as soon as it came out! The media was talking a lot about it. There was a lot of focus on the children violence, which is what the movie is all about. Children fighting to the death in an arena. Not because they wanted to but because the people had to be taught a lesson and reminded that they are powerless against the Capitol. I was nervous about watching the fighting. I am not one who enjoys violent films in any way but i really loved these books! I prepared myself for the movie knowing it would be violent but i also knew that there is a greater meaning.
First of all, i have to say they did an amazing job. The actors were perfect, they kept the important stuff  ( i know they can't keep everything from the book), the filming made it feel so real and i am really glad its not! The opening scenes of the movie show how destitute the people in District 12 are. I felt like I was watching a history movie.
I was surprised at how emotional i got watching the film. I read all 3 books and knew exactly what would happen but i cried when Katniss volunteered for her sister Prim. I teared up when Rue died and Katniss placed flowers around her dead body. The movie was very touching.
This is Effie and a great example of
how extreme the Capitol people were
with their appearance.
What was more clear to me in seeing the movie than from reading the books was the people who lived in the Capitol (and maybe its because i am a visual learner). The people in the capitol looked so silly and oblivious to reality. They had no clue that people lived with out and were suffering. They watched the Hunger Games like some great TV show not thinking how they were real kids murdering one another. The styles and treads were outrageous. It was obvious how self absorbed they were. Well... this got me thinking that maybe this is a message to me and really everyone.  I need to look outside myself. There are people suffering in this world. There are people who don't have the luxuries that i do. I need to stop worrying about what clothes i wear and if my hair looks good and think and do things for other people. Strangely enough I came home from that movie inspired. I wanted to forsake my "worldly living" and look outward.
another example of the capitol people
Good movie. I will definitely see it again and again.

my view on LIFE and Dogs

I'm not really a dog person but surprisingly enough, this movie kind of  made me want to be. Andy and i watched this Friday night cuddled on the couch. I'm always grateful for good, clean, family entertainment. This movie wasn't just entertaining it was uplifting. I loved it in a way i don't think it was meant to be seen or maybe it was. Watching it i found myself thinking how ordinary it was, it was just a story about a couple living their life. By the end i realized how great ordinary really is. An interesting part of the movie show's you Jon (Owen Wilson) with a friend of his who is handsome, successful, and single, always chasing the ladies. The friend thinks that Jon isn't living because he is tied down by a wife and soon after children...By the end of the movie the friend is still exactly the same but now he has a hint of sadness in his eyes. Jon on the other hand has so much in life; a wife who loves and supports him, wonderful children, and a dog that's crazy, but a part of the family.
My other favorite part is when Jon comes home to his wife Jenny (Jennifer Aniston). They don't hide the reality of parenthood AT ALL! She's got a crying baby and toddler, and a dog running wild through the house. You can tell she has had her last straw and tells Jon the dog has got to go! At this point, i was like, "FINALLY! Way to go Jenny!" So Jon sadly takes the dog to a friends house until things cool down at home. I was surprised when Jon got home Jenny apologized and said the dog's home was with them. Confused at first i then learned a crucial lesson. That when things get hard you don't just send them away. You work through it. Your most trying moments soon become your greatest blessings, your greatest JOY! Life, and especially being a young mom is challenging. But  i love it. I wouldn't change it. Sure i feel crazy sometimes and stumped at how to solve whatever problem is going on but life is beautiful. This movie did a marvelous job at portraying life how it really is. After watching it made me appreciate my husband and little Charlie even more!
So the big question: are we going to get a dog someday? Maybe. I will now consider it, as before my answer was not a chance.
