general conference

My eyes were difficult to open Saturday morning. I had been up a few times with Charlie in the night and was hoping for a little more rest. I felt Andy get out of the bed and it wasn't until i was more coherent that i realized he was up with Charlie, fresh diaper and now playing. I am so grateful for my good husband who helps me. I feel that we are a good team.
This is the Conference Center in Salt Lake City
where they speak. It's always a great experience
to go in person.
Andy's parents made a wonderful breakfast and invited us to join them. The waffles, potatoes, delicious eggs, and juice were exactly what i needed to be awake and alert for conference. Conference starts at 10am. Charlie was down for his morning nap. Andy and i were able to enjoy the first hour of talks together on the couch.
That very first session was my favorite! Here are a few notes i took: Elder Packer called family time sacred. We need to always put our families first. Sister Esplin brought tears to my eyes as she told a story of her daughter who is now a mother herself teaching her own daughter. She told the importance of teaching our children to not just know facts of the gospel but to understand it. We need to help our children feel the spirit and then to help them recognize it. I look forward with great excitement to teach my children in this way! I also took notes on Elder Hallstom's talk. He talked about the difference of the Gospel vs. Church. The Church is an organization to help us live the Gospel. But the Gospel is the number one importance. If we don't have a testimony of the Gospel our foundation will be weak. His 3 tips to make the Gospel our foundation were 1. deepen understanding of deity 2. focus on ordinances and covenants 3. unite the Gospel with the Church. Conference was so uplifting and edifying! You can go here to watch. I truly felt God speaking through these good men and women.
These are the Twelve Apostles of God. They are some of the main speakers during  Conference.
Now that it's over for another 6 months i am making the goal to study the talks more diligently then i have in the past. I want to become familiar with them. I know that as i follow their council i can always have peace and joy. Oh how grateful i am!
