Dancing Queen

i look like i don't know how to dance in this picture!
Oh how I miss my dancing days! I started dancing in middle school but was a lot more active when I entered high school. I was on the dance team. I love dancing! I love the freedom, the movement, the performing, the lights, the applause, but mostly the feeling I get when I dance. It's feels like lots of smiling! I remember doing exercises across the floor in our dance room at Centennial High School. We all had a great love for dance. I remember we would stare in the mirror and give the biggest grins at ourselves. I have a trillion of memories in that room: with friends, teachers, dances, the costumes, the makeup, and of course with the music.

The reason my dance days are on my mind is because my husband took me dancing. We were in a dance studio which made all the memories flood back. I wanted to break loose and really dance! But I couldn't! Not with the crowd we were with. I can only really dance when I am with my girlfriends. We went with a group of couples from our ward. Andy was very hesitant to go because he doesn't dance. He did a fine job and i am glad he was my partner. We were taught the rumba and salsa.

This made me think of a dance I was in, back in the day, with my dearest friend Shelly. We were dance partners in a salsa  number wearing sparkly black dresses with long slits. We laughed so
much! I am sure we were laughing even through the actual performance. There was maybe 5 other pairs of girls in the dance. It was my senior year. I remember bawling my eyes out at our last performance. Things were never going to be the same after graduation...and I was right. They weren't. I went far away from all my friends and started a new chapter of my life.
there we are: centennial Dance Fusion 2005
Now dancing is more like a memory. Sure I had fun dancing at parties in college. I even got into western swing. And i now i do a little rumba with the hubby. But nothing will ever measure up to the time I had dancing in High School with this group of girls!
